Halal Machi ("we", "our", or "us", operated via https://halalmachi.com) is committed to protecting the privacy of travelers, residents, and Muslim community members who use our mobile application ("Halal Machi App" available on Google Play) and web services.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, and safeguard your information when you access or use the Halal Machi application. We do not sell your personal data to any advertisers or third-party brokers.
2 Device Permissions & Usage Disclosures
The Halal Machi mobile app requests only the minimum runtime permissions required to deliver core functionality:
Used exclusively for scanning product barcodes (EAN-13, JAN) and on-device Optical Character Recognition (OCR) of Japanese ingredient lists (原材料名). Scanned camera frames are processed on-device and are never uploaded or recorded without your explicit submission.
Used in foreground mode to compute distances and sort nearby verified halal dining places, butcheries, and mosques within a 1km to 25km radius. We do not track your location in the background when the app is closed.
Requested only when you choose to upload storefront photos, halal certificates, or food photos when submitting a place suggestion or community report.
Required to download directory updates, synchronize verified community reviews, and authenticate your user account via Firebase Authentication.
3 Information We Collect
- Account Credentials: If you register an account, we collect your email address, display name, and authentication tokens via Google Firebase Authentication. You may also use the app as a guest without creating an account.
- User-Generated Content: Reviews, ratings, photographs of halal certificates/storefronts, and flagged issue reports you submit to our community database.
- Technical & Diagnostic Data: Device model, OS version, application crash logs, and performance metrics collected via Firebase Crashlytics to fix bugs and improve stability.

You retain full control over your personal data. You have the right to request deletion of your account and all associated personal records at any time:

6 Children's Privacy
Halal Machi does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will promptly delete it.
